Duikers Rest Bush Campsite at Bergplaats Game Farm. Bergplaats Game Farm is situated 80 km outside the historical town of Beaufort West, in the heart of the Central Karoo. At Bergplaats travellers can come to replenish their souls. The beautiful semi-arid landscape stretches to the horizon, under a blue sky, with herds of antelope graze across the rolling hills. Bergplaats covers pristine Karoo land set against the backdrop of a towering, rugged mountain. The farm accommodates 16 people in its suite of comfortable housing facilities. Accommodation ranges from the luxurious to the authentic farm-style. The main facility is Gemsbok Lodge, with an open air lapa, where guests can relax and dine under a spectacular, starry Karoo night sky.
Bergplaats offers a range of activities. Guests are welcome to explore the stunning surrounds. Adventure-seekers can take to the veldt on one of our 4×4 tracks. During a sunset game drive you are likely to spot various species of antelope, including gemsbok, blue wildebeest, eland and zebra. Bergplaats offers a world-class hunting experience and boasts it’s very own on-site butchery, where hunters can participate in the processing of their own meat, should they wish.

- Enjoy exclusive use of Duikers Rest Bush campsite @ Bergplaats Game Lodge. The campsite can accommodate 5 vehicles with rooftop tents or 4 x 4 caravans. We can also manage a maximum of 10 tents.
- The campsite offers unobstructed views of the Karoo with the magnificent backdrop of our own mountain range.
- There is toilet and shower facilities, and borehole drinking water.
- There is no electricity, and only limited solar lights at the campsite.
- Firewood, ice and braai packs can be arranged prior to arrival.
- Guests can also enjoy all our amenities, like the 4 x 4 route, hiking, guided quad tours, guided horseback game viewing, hunting etc.

A child friendly facility. There is a jungle gym, swimming pool, kids games and toys at the main lodge. There are also short informative nature walks.
4×4 Mountain Trails:
Many mountain trails on Bergplaats Game Lodge and in the Karoo. Trails are graded between 2-3 as per official grading received. GPS points will be provided. Maximum of 10 vehicles per group allowed.
Mountain Biking Trails:
This is a 4×4 trail that is also suitable for mountain-biking. The trail is in the foothills of the Nueweveld Mountains and offers a number of serious rock obstacles, rapid descents and steep climbs as well as flat areas. The mountain route is definitely for more advanced cyclist. But there are many routes in the flatter areas for novice riders. Spectacular mountain scenery and game-viewing opportunities along the way. Possible sightings include blue wildebeest, blesbuck,eland, springbok, red hartebeest, rhebok and zebra.
Hiking Trails:
We have 1 and 2 day hiking trails at Bergplaats and can offer novices a slackpacker option or we offer very strenuous mountain trails with some mountain climbing involved. We also have short 1-3 hour trails for guests and children just wanting to enjoy nature.
Target Shooting:
Using either a Rifle, Pistol, Air Pistol or Shotgun to Shoot Pellets / Bullets at a Target. In a safe environment. The Target is either Paper, Card or Electronic for Rifle and Pistol, or for Shotgun the target is called a “bird”.
Night Game Drives:
An amazing experience. Animal behaviour is quite different at night so observing the animals in the dark is a big part of any safari.
Landing Strip:
We have a landing strip that can be used by privately chartered aeroplanes.
Matjiesfontein Village:
Historic village with a rich background, dating back to its roots in the late nineteenth century. A double-decker London Bus makes a daily tour of the Matjiesfontein Village.
Karoo National Park:
Large herds of antelope and abundant bird life. The Park offers a Fossil Trail, which has wide walkways for wheel chairs and Braille board inscriptions for the convenience of the blind and taped commentary is available for disabled visitors who have their own cassette players. Gondwanaland is explained, and along this 400m route, there are superb examples of fossilised mudstone, silified trees and a wide variety of fossils, most of which have been found in the Beaufort Series of rock formations.
