The Uitkyk Trail in the protected Magaliesberg Reserve is highly recommended for moderate to seasoned hikers. Nature loving Dads will enjoy the breathtaking views of the Hartbeespoort Dam and the variety that the trail offers, with it’s rocky kloofs, grassy hillsides, woodlands, indigenous bush and waterfall. - Location: near Hartbeespoort Dam, 30 km West of Pretoria, 40 km North of Johannesburg.
- Uitkyk Trail: about 9km.
- Duration: 4½ – 5½ hours.
- Difficulty Rating: Moderate to challenging with a few optional extreme sections.
- Bookings Essential.
- Minimum of 6 hikers required.
- Dry Hike: carry at least 2L of water.
- Do not walk over R513 – use tunnel.
- Securely fenced car park with flushing toilets, water & braai areas – bring own fire wood, food and drinks.
- A map is provided as a guide to both the well-marked route and to the fascinating history, geology, fauna and flora of the area.
