Malealea Lodge - PONY TREKS:
Overnight Treks:
These Outings range from 1 hour to six days or longer: tailor-made to your requirements.
The treks are usually about 7 hours each day. No riding experience is necessary.
The huts and horses are hired from the Basotho people in remote areas.
Day Treks:
Pony treks can be arranged in the morning or the afternoon.
Beginner riders can ask for a young person to accompany their horse and lead them at a rate of R15.00 per hour, paid directly.
Bushman Painting Pony Trek:
2 hours riding and 1 hour steep hike to the paintings
Level: easy
Gorge Trek:
Very easy 2 hour ride to the top of a gorge. Good for beginners
Level: easy
Botsoela Waterfall Pony Trek:
4 hour trek. It is advisable to take a packed lunch
Level: for adventurous trekkers

5-6 hour trek. It is advisable to take a packed lunch

Makhaleng Plateaux Ride:

Mountain Biking & Hiking:
Venture into the mountains on various mountain biking trails to suit all levels of abilities from comfortable to extreme. Ride on single tracks, gravel roads, climbs and descents with spectacular views. Malealea lodge is home to the Monster MTB Challenge which is held annually in April.
4x4:
Test your driving skills. There are many routes around Malealea that each lead to someplace exciting. Some routes are perfect for normal vehicles and normal drivers. Others need to be tackled with a 4×4 and by experienced drivers only.
