No life guards on duty anywhere at Cape Point along the coast. Bring own grid, wood and firelighters. Don’t feed the Chacma baboons, they can become aggressive!

Helderberg Farm Picnic / Braai Sites:
Situated on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain, on a farm just outside of Stellenbosch and Somerset West. The family-orientated, rustic farm has public braai areas with small benches, as well as private braai sections in Granny’s Forest, which can host up to 200 people. The Granny Forest is excellent for braaiing in both summer and winter, with towering poplar trees that provide shelter for braaiing. A number of fun activities on the farm include paintball, trail running, laser-shooting, strawberry-picking (seasonal), hiking, 4×4 routes, play park, feeding the animals in the Farmyard Nursery.

Oudekraal Picnic / Braai Site:
Secluded, sheltered beach tucked away between Camps Bay and Llandudno. A great swimming and snorkeling beach as the cove is sheltered from big waves (no life guard on duty at this beach). Barbeque areas have seating with great views of the ocean. There are a few small grassy areas where kids can play. No alcohol is allowed.
Linda’s Tuck Shop located in the Oudekraal picnic site is open 09h00 – 16h00 during the picnic site operating hours, and stock braai wood, charcoal, a small selection of drinks and snacks and rents out umbrellas and braai grids.

Silvermine Picnic / Braai Site:
A most popular picnic site situated on the banks of the reservoir with spectacular views of the Fynbos clad mountains. More than 40 sites lie scattered around the Silvermine reservoir, and a boardwalk provides a picturesque trail around the reservoir. The trail takes about 25 minutes to complete. No alcohol allowed in the picnic site. Open year round for picnics, but no braaing is allowed around the dam during the high fire risk season (summer and early autumn). Plenty of trails and bird watching perches. The entrance to the Silvermine braai and picnic spots can be found on the Constantiaberg side of Ou Kaapse Weg. Tokai Forest Picnic / Braai Area:
A great braai spot with huge pine trees for shade in a serene forest setting. A centrally located, spacious site for large family gatherings, with plenty of room for the kids to run around and play. Tokai Forest braai area can be found on the right-hand side of Tokai Road, just before the Tokai Manor House. Bring own grid, wood and firelighters. No alcohol is allowed. Please avoid contact with the Chacma baboons and do not feed them!
