Zimbabwe's longest-running festival of urban culture will run under the theme ‘PARTYcipate’. Due to Covid restrictions the festival has been conducted entirely virtually. With lockdown measures removed, this year’s edition will adopt a hybrid format with both physical events and virtual spaces to allow audiences to fully PARTYcipate in the Shoko 2022 experience. So come through and let's PARTYcipate!
Founded by Magamba Network in 2011, Shoko Festival is Zimbabwe’s biggest festival of urban culture. The event combines arts, new media, and civic activism. The festival creates a space that celebrates free expression and politically conscious art.
Shoko won Promoter of the Year in 2012 and 2013 at the Zim Hip Hop Awards. It has created opportunities for Zimbabwean artists that have led to international tours across Africa, the USA, and Europe. Shoko 2020 was the first-ever virtual edition of the festival due to the Covid-19 pandemic and this year will be the first time in-person events return since then.
