The Madikwe Game Reserve is currently the country’s fourth largest reserve. It is situated in the North West Province and is bordered by Botswana in the north, the spectacular Dwarsberg Mountains to the south, the Marico river to the east. Privately-owned Tau Game Lodge was built in 1995 and overlooks a vast natural waterhole, which attracts a variety of game. The Tau Game Lodge has a comfortable lounge, conference room, bar and dining room which are semi open-air and overlook the waterhole. Tau Game Lodge animals include Lion, leopard, black and white rhino, elephant, buffalo, kudu, gemsbok, impala and eland, cheetah, wild dog and many more. We have qualified rangers who take guests in small groups on game walks. These game walks are confirmed while at the Lodge with Lodge Management. (so not in advance)

This is a malaria FREE area – A disease caused by a plasmodium parasite, transmitted by the bite of infected mosquitoes. In South Africa, malaria is mainly transmitted along the border areas. Some parts of South Africa’s nine provinces (Limpopo, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal) are endemic for malaria, and 10% of the population (approximately 4.9 million persons) is at risk of contracting the disease. The lodge carries basic first aid and medical supplies. All of our Rangers are qualified in first aid assistance. In addition to this there is also a 24 hour Paramedic service available in the Game Reserve, managed by Africa Safe-T (Remote Emergency Specialists) which Tau Game Lodge is a member of.
